IMM In-Class Project
- Duration: 2-3 Hours
- Format: The ideal would be to work Small Groups, but if preferred, working in pairs or individually
- Outcomes: Business Ethics in Decision-Making, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Corporate Governance
The In-Class Project (100 Marks):
- Choose two South African organisations of your choice; one that you would like to do business with due to its known ethical approach, and one that you would not want to do business with due to its known unethical behaviour. Do some online research about the two organisations and discuss the ethics in those organisations.
- Ethical decision making in the organisations: Integrate theory with practice and discuss the levels of ethical decision making, as well as the approaches to ethical decision making in the two different organisations. Discuss how to manage ethics effectively in both organisations.
- Corporate Social Responsibility: Discuss the Narrow View of CSR of Milton Friedman as opposed to the Broader View of CSR of Edward Freeman as applied on both organisations.
- Corporate Governance: Discuss corporate governance in both organisations by paying special attention to the the pillars supporting good governance, the 4 P's of corporate governance, and the influence of the King IV Report on corporate governance.
Present the different aspects of the in-class project with the rest of the class.
